Apologies for the recent delay in updates. While there hasn’t been much activity with Natalie of late, we also are and will be busy with other projects throughout the Spring, and thus we will only be posting updates whenever there are big news or public appearances to report on, until further notice. Sorry, ya’ll — some things just have to take higher priority!

Onto today’s update, however. Yesterday, March 14 2009, Natalie Portman was spotted at the REDCAT 5th Anniversary Gala in Los Angeles, CA, of which the first three medium-res photos have been added to the gallery. As always, more photos will be added as they are found. Enjoy!

Just a quick heads-up to everyone: Natalie Portman is currently on the red carpet at the ongoing 81st Annual Academy Awards in Hollywood, CA! Stay tuned for updates, y’all!

Update 2: Natalie Portman recently presented the award for Best Cinematography to Anthony Dod Mantle for Slumdog Millionaire with actor Ben Stiller, brilliantly spoofing Joaquin Phoenix. Thank heavens for new appearances! Yesterday, February 13 2009, Natalie Portman attended the Second Clinton Global Initiative Opening Plenary Session, titled “Making a Difference on Campus: A Call to Action” at the University of Texas in Austin, TX. The gallery has been updated with the first 14 medium-res photos of Natalie at the event; as always, more will be added as I find them. Our gallery-related technical difficulties have been resolved!, y’all! And just in time, might I add, as Natalie was yesterday, January 24 2009 in Los Angeles, CA, attending the 20th Annual Producers Guild Awards. Natalie was looking stunning as always in a dark, lilac-blue blue number, and the first 20 73 medium- and hi-res photos of her appearance have been added to the gallery. Four updates in one day! Here’s our fourth and final Natalie news update, which should bring us up-to-date with the latest happenings in Nat-land. Enjoy!

In mid-October, Just Jared reported Natalie Portman was in Paris, France to shoot an unknown perfume commercial. In all likelihood, this shoot was for Natalie’s latest project — a Francesco Vezzoli faux “Greed” perfume commercial, co-starring actress Michelle Williams (Brokeback Mountain) and directed by the critically acclaimed Roman Polanski (The Pianist). The commercial will debut at the Gagosian Gallery in Rome, Italy in February 2009, however the first medium-res photos have already surfaced. From NYMag.com:

Francesco Vezzoli, the Italian video artist known for his lavish parodies, has a new project: a faux perfume ad starring Natalie Portman and Michelle Williams, filmed by Roman Polanski. It’ll debut in February at the Gagosian Gallery in Rome.

“Lately the art world has become a place where there is a lot of effort to create desire, so I thought Greed”—the name of the scent—“was an appropriate theme,” Vezzoli says. He recruited Portman and Williams because they’re “two A-list celebrities who have never endorsed a perfume,” he explains. “Natalie plays the good girl and Michelle plays the greedy one, and they start having a catfight over the perfume. They bite each other, pull each other’s hair, throw themselves on the floor, and all of that is filmed by Polanski in his epitomizing style.”

Darn it! Due to utter lack of media coverage, it would seem we have missed a public appearance of Natalie’s, as on November 12, Natalie Portman co-hosted the Jerusalem Music Center Benefit in New York. What makes it all the more a shame is that this was quite a lovely appearance by her, at least judging by this teeny tiny photo (© Hannah Heer) posted at the OK! Magazine website. One of [Natalie's] most passionate projects is the Jerusalem Foundation, where she co-hosted an event at Carnegie Hall in NYC on Nov. 12 along with Lord Rothschild to benefit the Jerusalem Music Center. The Israeli-born V for Vendetta actress was accompanied by her farther and a former Harvard classmate at the event where she spoke and listened to performances from graduates of the school.

“Someone who has come some way in the world of performing arts, I only know too well the distance between a dream and its realization,” Natalie, 27, told OK!, “And can fully appreciate what it means for young aspiring artists to have such a wonderful organization guide and support them in pursuing their goal. And as someone born and raised in Jerusalem and still very much belongs to this great city, I can confidently say that the Jerusalem music center has revolutionized the cultural scene of Israel’s capitol both in quality and quantity.”
