Rumor has it online that Natalie is attached to the lead role in an upcoming remake of Dario Argento’s Suspiria. Let’s not get ahead of ourselves, though, keep in mind this is only a rumor at this point, until an official source confirms or negates it. From ShockTillYouDrop.com:

Password-protected industry talk site TrackingB.com broke the news yesterday afternoon saying Natalie Portman (V for Vendetta, Closer) is attached to the forthcoming Suspiria remake, written and directed David Gordon Green.

Portman will take over the role of an American dancer, previously essayed by Jessica Harper in Dario Argento’s original, who travels abroad to further her studies at a ballet school. Evil ensues.

Update Aug 8: According to UGO.com, Natalie Portman’s publicist has denied any truth to the rumor of Natalie’s involvement in the remake, however Bloody Disgusting reports they have 100% confirmed the news with a number of sources. Go figure.

The time is nearing for Natalie’s Project Runway appearance later today, in a special “green” episode of the popular fashion designer reality series, and a whole bunch of websites already have a first look at a lovely Natalie on the show.

First off, some photos. I’ve added one promotional photo and a handful of medium-res preview screen captures of Natalie’s guest appearance on the show, during which she wore a beautiful, green strapless mini with a simple ponytail-do — once again, Nat pulls off a stunning, classy and classic look. I’m sure we won’t be disappointed in her judging input, either! Stay tuned for more.

Furthermore, some video previews of Natalie’s appearance have surfaced online. Access Hollywood has a look at this week’s Project Runway episode which includes some footage of Natalie entering the series’ famous runway, much to the contestants’ surprise and delight. Bravo.tv also has a preview of the episode, with slightly more footage of Natalie than the former. Judging by the footage, Nat seemed very excited to be part of the show!

Update: Another four medium-res promotional photos of Natalie on the show have been added to the gallery. Enjoy!

Finally(!) some news, and some good (albeit a tad surprising) news at that. NewsDay.com reports Natalie will be a guest judge in the 5th season of Bravo TV’s fashion designer reality series, Project Runway. From NewsDay.com:

The season is bittersweet for Bravo — it’s auf wiedersehen at the end, as next time around it moves to Lifetime. But the powers behind the show assure that they are pulling out all the stops. Fashion fabulous guest judges range from Diane von Furstenberg to Brooke Shields, and even a few notable LIers will weigh in, including LL Cool J of Manhasset for a music-centric challenge and Natalie Portman, a Syosset high school grad, who will render judgement during a “green” episode.

The 5th season of the hit TV series will air on Wednesday night in its new time slot of 9 pm.

The winners of the 34th Annual Saturn Awards have been announced. Unfortunately, Goya’s Ghosts did not win the award for Best International Film which the movie was nominated for. The award went to Eastern Promises.

My apologies again for the delay in updates, we experienced some technical difficulties for a while there. Lucky for us (?), there hasn’t really been any news on Natalie of late, so we haven’t really missed anything.

At any rate, I do have something to update with today. I’ve just uploaded roughly 1700 medium-res screen captures of Natalie as Anne Boleyn in Justin Chadwick’s period drama The Other Boleyn Girl; DVD-quality caps will be added as soon as possible. While I confess I didn’t like the movie itself, Natalie was her usual splendid self, with her performance being one of the highlights of the film. Enjoy the caps; our gallery has now reached more than 40,000 Natalie Portman photos!

This is interesting news. According to AFP, Natalie is currently in Rwanda shooting a clip “to promote a Jewish-funded youth village for children orphaned by the 1994 genocide.”

Israeli-American actress Natalie Portman is in Rwanda shooting a clip to promote a Jewish-funded youth village for children orphaned by the 1994 genocide, officials said. “The American film star is currently in Rwanda shooting a film on the genocide,” an official close to the ministry of culture told AFP on condition of anonymity.

The young Hollywood star arrived quietly in the genocide-scarred central African country earlier this week. Israeli media has reported that the clip she is shooting about the new village will be aired in a few weeks on the Oprah Winfrey Show, America’s best-rated television programme.

Aww. Many news sources report Natalie has pulled out of the upcoming remake of Wuthering Heights due to scheduling conflicts (suggesting she has another, as of yet untitled movie project lined up). From MovieWeb:

Natalie Portman will no longer be a part of the latest adaptation of a Charlotte Bronte classic. According to Variety, Portman has exited the new film version of Wuthering Heights. Portman cited a scheduling conflict with an un-announced project she had committed to, according to her publicist.

Wuthering Heights is still moving forward with John Maybury directing from Olivia Hetreed’s script. It isn’t quite clear yet who will fill in for Portman for the role of Cathy.

Naturally, we’ll keep our eyes peeled for more news on that “un-announced project she has committed to.”
